The harvest festival (Pongal) celebration was joyfully celebrated at Vijaya Vidhyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School on 10/01/2026 with great enthusiasm and cultural spirit. The programme commenced with a melodious prayer song, followed by an inspiring speech highlighting the significance of Pongal and its importance in Tamil culture reflecting gratitude to nature and farmers. Higher class students prepared Pongal with all due reverence and customs under the guidance of staff. Students actively participated in the celebration by performing various classical and traditional dance forms related to Pongal. A vibrant Silambam performance by students from different classes showcased our rich cultural heritage and traditional martial art. A thought-provoking debate on “Village Pongal vs City Pongal” was conducted, where students confidently expressed their views. As part of the traditional celebration, all have paid tribute to the Sun God by preparing Pongal in a traditional pot. Once Pongal prepared, our Madam Correspondent performed pooja, while students were enchanting the prayers. All were in traditional attire added colour to the festive occasion. The celebration concluded with sharing Pongal with the fellow students spreading joy and tradition of Tamilnadu.
